Obelisco

A symbol of Buenos Aires city, the Obelisk was built in May 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the first foundation of Buenos Aires.

Florida Street
This pedestrian precinct is an important shopping area related to the "City", Buenos Aires’ main financial centre. Next to the crossing with Corrientes Avenue is the Sociedad Rural Argentina and Richmond tea house. Plenty of good grills can be found around Lavalle Street and 9 de Julio Avenue.

Santa Fe Avenue

Santa Fe Avenue is also a busy shopping area; and in Plaza San Martín you will find some of the city’s most important palaces and hotels.


La Boca

La Boca is one of the most colourful areas of our city. It was the quarter of Italian immigrants at the early twentieth century, who lodged tenant-houses and conventillo, some of which can be still visited by tourists.


River Plate Stadium

This stadium is popularly known as "El Monumental", since it has been one of the first big stadiums in all South America. It was inaugurated in 1938 with a capacity for 70,000 spectators. El Monumental is the official stadium of the Argentina National Selection.

It is also the venue for the main test-matches played by Los Pumas (rugby national team) and historical concerts such as The Rolling Stones, U2, Amnesty International, Madonna, Guns´n Roses, Eric Clapton and Red Hot Chili peppers, among others. River Plate club offers first class facilities, an interactive museum of 3,500 square meters and a roofed immense swimming pool.

Recoleta Cemetery

The Recoleta Cemetery is the oldest and most aristocratic cemetery in the city. Its almost 6 hectares ( 14,000 acres) include the tombs and mausoleums of Independence patriots, presidents of the Republic,military people, scientists and artists. Among them, Eva Perón, Adolfo Bioy Casares and Facundo Quiroga.

Visits: every day from 8 am to 6 pm. Guided tours: Free, on the last Sunday of each month, at 2:30 pm.


Manzana de las Luces

The set of buildings also presents tunnels built in the XVIII century to connect the Cabildo (government´s cradle in the colonial period and currently a museum) and the Cathedral with the San Ignacio, San Francisco, Santo Domingo, San Juan, Del Salvador churches, the old Irish convent, the Capuchinas monastery, the Vicequeen´s house, the Socorro de la Recoleta and other surrounding buildings.

Palermo

This is one of the largest and most attractive parts of the city because of its parks and tree-lined avenues. The district has three interesting routes which are worth visiting: Palermo de Bosques y Lagos (Palermo and its Woods. Two artificial lakes border the vegetation.) Additionally, you can enjoy many subspaces, like the“Poets Garden”, the “Andalusian Yard” and the “Roses Garden” commonly known as El Rosedal with 15,000 rose bushes and plants of 1,189 different species

Palermo Chico (Small Palermo), the Zoo, the Botanical Garden, the Sociedad Rural; and Palermo Viejo (Old Palermo) with a nostalgic atmosphere, better known as the Palermo of Borges and Carriego.
Enthusiasm for horses is witnessed at the Argentine Racetrack, and in polo tournaments or "Pato" matches - a genuine Argentine sport -, both played on the Polo field.

Plaza Dorrego

On Sundays, in the streets surrounding the square, you can see different artistic tango and folklore shows in addition to plastic artists exhibitions. The market is in the heart of the traditional San Telmo neighborhood where many of its old big houses of the 19th. Century were recycled to become antiques shops and first class restaurants.

Reserva Ecológica

This is a green space of 360 hectares with some unique features. The land was gained to the river by artificially refilling this area. As years went by, a wide variety of the typical River Plate flora and fauna started to grow up in this area. It has been officially declared as a “Natural Park and Reservoir Zone”.

Puerto Madero

This district is located downtown by the river. It was born from the restoration of the old docks and warehouses that shaped the old Buenos Aires harbour. For its proximity to downtown, it rapidly became a tourist centre. Its 16 buildings, surrounding the docks, concentrate a variety of luxurious restaurants and modern office buildings.
